CHICO'S CHINESE

THIS EXHIBIT

The website that carries this virtual exhibit includes photographs of Chinese men who were reportedly living in or around a small town (Chico) in the Sacramento Valley in the 1890’s. Our research involved these men and the purported photographic evidence of their existence as merchants during the period of time studied. This exhibit includes explanatory text, sketches, drawings and photographs of the old and new Chinese communities in Chico. Also included are maps of the city and some of its parts during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
